Asheville, can we create a model ordinance that increases support for local business?

Jeff Milchen will lead participants in an explorative work session.

Participants will review existing policies that affect local business from Asheville and other communities; have a group conversation about perceptions regarding current opportunities for, and threats to, local business ; and work together to develop an outline for a proposed local business ordinance that might speak to the needs of Asheville, NC.

Who should attend? -- business owners, policy makers, business service providers, board and commission members, vendors, planners, commercial property owners, entrepreneurs, City and County officials, and interested citizens.   Refreshments provided, bring pen and paper, and your ideas.

Jeff Milchen founded and directed the nation's first Independent Business Alliance in Boulder, CO before co-founding the American Independent Business Alliance to help other communities to organize successfully.   He is a highly-sought speaker, nationally-published writer and leading voice for community self-determination America's independent businesses.

Th is Speakers Series is presented by the Asheville Downtown Association and co-sponsored by The City of Asheville, Quality Forward, the WNC Chapter of the American Planning Association, Michael Figura, and Buy Local WNC.
