DETAILS: On March 15, Asheville Downtown Association will announce the 2017 music lineup for Downtown After 5 — a free outdoor concert series presented by Prestige Subaru on the third Friday of each month from May to September.
Volunteers and prospective volunteers for the 2017 event season should arrive at 6 p.m., for a brief orientation. Volunteer shifts are a fun way to meet involved locals and range from pouring beer to festival greening, merchandise sales to setting up tents and more. In celebration of Downtown After 5’s 29th season, volunteers and supporters are encouraged to wear vintage ADA t-shirts to this event.
After doors open to the public at 7 p.m., ADA will release the full lineup of local openers and nationally touring headliners taking the stage this year. Charity wristband partners will also be announced.
Closing the night with a mix of old soul classics and great instrumental New Orleans-inspired funk is local band The Northside Gentlemen. The group will also open the June Downtown After 5, showcasing what makes Asheville’s music scene recognized around the country.
Sponsored by Prestige Subaru and The Orange Peel, the kickoff concert is free and open to the public.
